Why do astronauts float in the space?

Every object exerts a force of attraction on other objects. This is called the force of gravity. Because the earth’s gravity is very strong it pulls things towards it like a magnet. 

If you drop an object, it doesn’t just fall to the ground, it is pulled to the ground by this force. This is what gives everything weight and keeps it on the earth.

As we travel away from the earth, the earth’s gravity has less influence. This is my astronauts float inside a spaceship. They are so far from the earth that the earth’s gravity has little effect. So they become weightless.
